KLIP Already A Major Player In The Storage And Ship-To-Ship Transfer Game

Demand for floating storage in Asia is growing, with about 30 VLCCs reportedly being used in the role off the Malaysian coast. Just over one-third of these can be found in the anchorage of Kuala Linggi International Port (KLIP).

Belgian shipowner Euronav’s two ULCCs — the 441,585-dwt Oceania (built 2003) and 441,561-dwt Europe (built 2002) are among the 11 large tankers being used there in storage roles.

KLIP has been popular among energy majors looking for a long-term floating storage location or to engage in ship-to-ship (STS) transfers.
